OK with all my fines I have found this piece of something that I?ve been looking at now 42 weeks just picking up looking at it and put the bag down chewing on whether it?s a round ball that was drilled with a hole in it or a all fishing weight. The Symplex of both options has peaked my curiosity sometimes the simplest things with the most interesting. Being from New Orleans there?s always water near somewhere and this was found at an old fort along the bayou Where I have found late 18th century too the pull tabs of last week. image-2021-06-24-14:43:27-761.jpg

Fishing weight. The hole is too perfect to have been drilled over 150 years ago and the seam would have destroyed a gun.

Good point. I had a seine net with the exact weight on it now that my memory has been tweaked.

Hole is small for the type I have seen used for nets and large for a handline so casting net makes sense to me.

Ok I agree check these 2 out they where found closer to the Mississippi River. I believe the one with the patina is old and if you see that one picture it?s like he squeezed it with his fingers it?s a perfect fit on the thumb and finger but I?m sure they would?ve burned the hell out of him and the other is more modern homemade which is impressive because a lot use spark plugs lol image-2021-06-24-23:14:54-822.jpg
