It's all relative. I've roll hunted in a time when you couldn't give away 40% silver. I've roll hunted when 90% halves weren't worth much either.
Now, as soon as I get a few rolls of 40% I unload 'em, for the best price of course. ffd

Those of us that were still building a position in PMs at that time should be happy ;) If no one was selling, how the heck was I going to buy? :dontknow:

A few posts earlier was a guy that sold 899 40%-ers for $1.05 a pop....

2006 was a good year...

Your thoughts (and did you hold) HH

I sold some rolls of 64's back in 2000 for twice over face to a coin dealer. I was hard up for cash though as I had been out of work for several months. I also sold my VG8 1921-D Mercury dime, my MS65 1943 Walker, some large cents, etc at that time.
I did sell 3 rolls of 40%'s when silver first hit $30 late last year. It would've been nice to have kept those too, but they they did give me some extra much needed x-mas money.

When you pay 50 cents for a 90% silver half and can sell it for 29 times your investment, my third grade math skills tell me that isn't too bad. Profit is the main goal here. You can sit on your silver until the cows come home if you like but one of "Martha Stewarts Good Things" is PROFIT.. Have fun out there. Jim

I was 11 years old and in love with coin collecting when silver first hit $50, thereby trashing my dreams of having ANYTHING for a decent collection. Living on the NY/Canadian border I ended up finding more cool Canadian coins in circulation than American. Since my recent revival of collecting, I've found a number of really cool, collectable Canadians, as well as the US stuff.

I CRH because I love finding things, and have a genuine love for the hobby.

I'm only back in the game for the last three months, but I think this photo says it all.
