I stopped by a bank that usually has halves however on my last trip there I had a disturbing conversation with 2 gentleman tellers who asked me if I looked for silver,I played dumb and said I just looked for dates I needed for my collection. Anyway they proceeded to tell me they go through all the halves that come in looking for silver, the one guy tells me I can hear the sound of a silver across the room. So Im thinking dumps when the lady teller I ask says I have $90, then the teller next to her says I have $100. What the hell even if they are it will give me something to do. Glad I bought them from the $90 I found a 1967 and a 1988 S proof. The $100 produced a 1966,1967, and 1969 I guess the boys missed these rolls

Awesome Stuff... I might want to go back and pick up the halves at my local bank I think was someone dump. Might be worth it

I frequently wonder if someone has told the tellers that only 64 and earlier are silver and they only look at dates. When I hear the same thing and still find silver in rolls it makes me wonder if that is the case.

Seems like the appropriate time to ask this question... So as of late, I have been getting more CWR's of halves that are marked in some way. Since I dont want to be a pain in the but for the teller, I take them anyways. Even though they are clearly marked, It seems like I cant help myself but to check anyways. Do any of you do this? Or do you just go turn them back in at another bank?

I take whatever they give me so I'm not a pest, unless they volunteer that they wouldn't mind getting me something better. I mean saying "no, these ones are stinky, go in the vault and get me the GOOD ones!!!" is kinda childish. Their job is to help you with your banking activities, not help you with your hobby. Recently I had a teller say "Are you looking for particular dates? These are all solid rolls of bicentennials." Since he volunteered that's what they were and they didn't have any others, I turned them down.
