These 3 were unearthed in early spring and late summer

The first photo is of an 'Adz' and Axehead ..
Both found in the field I found the GW button in , I especially like the adz as it saw so much use it is dull to the point of over use.

My huntin partner Rock dug the axe head , it is a fine piece of hardware !!

The last photo is a 1600's french trade axe popular amoungst the indians .
It measures approx. 8.5 ' long and is a formidable tool ! Dug by my talented huntin partner Rocko in woods in the Mohawk valley

I swear everyone should have a hunting partner like mine....he knows I LOVE the axe heads and gave both of these to me !!

Thanks Rocko ;) GOD bless ya !!

great finds, I too love colonial stuff.

Awesome stuff, the old iron is a huge part of our countries history. Those are great finds.

Love diggin' old tools like that...you never know what kind of 'doo-dad' you're going to unearth. :)

Just shows what a tough life they lived...GREAT finds! ;D

WOW, those are great. Can't wait to see those when they are all cleaned up. It's a shame that relics like that cannot talk. Just imagine the stories that they would tell. Great finds and keep up the great work.

Very nice old relics Derek.
Are they headed for electrolysis?

Hey -MM- They definately need cleaning. The big trade axe has only one circle stamp instead of the usual 3 circles and its hard to see it.
I dont have the equipment to do electrolysis though

Ron..I wish they could talk ! I have several more axe heads including a nice small belt axe and a spike tomahawk I found over summer.

And I'd bet the spike tomahawk was drivin into a few skulls in its day !!
I'll have to post a picture of it when I get home next week

Thanks

Nice tools.

Read up on the electrolysis process. It does no take a lot of space or money to put one together for iron.
Your tools would be perfect candidates for such cleaning and reconstruction.
