I was fortunate enough to run into an old campsite in the woods. Lots of targets and plenty of junk. 1869, 1870 and 1871 seated halfs were the only coins found. One was obviously in a fire of some sort.

The gun was found in the same area but I'm not sure if its from the same period. Any ideas on the gun? Is it real a toy or what? It seems to be too heavy to be a toy but I know very little about guns.

There was a lot of poison oak around and a week or so when the poison oak on my arms clears up I'll head back to see what else may be out there.

Hey, Winslow.....The gun is a toy, and in remarkable condition for it's age...around 1960 or so. Three....THREE seated halves....what are the odds?? The two that aren't damaged are gorgeous! You rock, my friend!

Larry

Ohhhhhh Man!

Those are some beauties! The only place I see those is on this forum and in coin books.
Looking forward to your next batch after you hit it again.

Thanks to Lowandslow the gun mystery has been solved!

Andes cap gun from the 30's.

Ebay Text:

Cast Iron 1930 automatic cap gun. It is in the style of a detective gun. It is called a Master. Was Mfg. by Kilgore. Shoots roll caps. 4 5/8 inches long. The left hand checkered grips flips forward for loading caps. It's a nickle plated gun. This gun is shown on page 96 -M8 of Charles W. Best Cast Iron Toy Guns 1870-1940. He calls it a one star gun which puts it in the fairly rare range of cast iron guns.

Wow nice digs, I like those silver coins! The crossed sabers are a great find as well. :D

UUHHHH....SH*T!!!! DAM>>>>>>WOW>>>!!!! I'm sorry....I hate you now!!! :tongue3: Just in case you dont realize how awesome of a day you had....UHHH%$@$#$#!!!!! Lets just say "dont give any of that away" and "dont clean the coins any more than needed with anything abrasive" and it might be a long time before you have a day better than that!!! Seated halves are not dug very often and certainly not three in one day. The crossed swords are a sweet and valuable find themselves. My parting words are....GO BACK.....HUNT SLOW...SHOW US!!!!
Welcome to T-NET and you are a lucky .............sorry........i'm ok now.......welcome and ATA-BOY on the awesome firsts!!! 8)

Wowzers, I'd call that a good day!
