I’m staying in Baumholder this weekend. Got off work early this afternoon and it had quit raining so I detected around the old officer’s club and sergeant’s club. Except a land mine my boot found in the form of doggy doo, I had a really good hunt for about 3 hours with just a few light rain showers. Here are the finds, a Boy Scout Badge, says “Bobcats, Cubscouts, BSA” around the legend and a few 50 Cal. bullets.

A 1958 coin, an older button but not very old and two Wheat cents dating 1955 and 1953.

I was lucky with three silver finds today, also found about $2.50 in crusty clad and a few Euro coins. Found this 1951 low grade silver 5 Deutsch Mark coin, my first and I don’t think that is my nick on the edge as it came out of a plug. Also found a 1958 American Rosie, I really enjoy pulling American silver in Germany!

Another rain shower started dumping so I was headed to the car after three hours detecting and was tired from the long week anyway. Was very happy about my finds and I had really enjoyed the hunt. I was swinging and walking at a full stride and got a nice signal. Swung over it a few times and it was breaking up, figured it was another dime so I dug. Was surprised to dig a chain bracelet with a sterling silver mount piece! The obverse of the bracelet, says “RITA W. PRIBNOW”.

Reverse of the bracelet,“PRESENTED BY G.S. TROOP 75” STERLING. I would assume 75 refers to 1975, I am not sure what G.S. TROOP is, maybe General Support Troop? Hopefully my older military friends can help ID this bracelet, I was in communications in the military and Troop Units usually refer to some combat arms branch. It was a nice hunt today, bad weather in the forecast but you just have to dress for it if you want to get out swinging, as long as it does not freeze, LOL. Happy Leap Year! HH, Mike

Sorry about the "landmine" Mike ;D I hope that silver make's up for it,it would for me!Congrat's and HH!!

yeah I think that is girl scout troop 75.

still a very nice piece of silver

very nice finds

Thanks all, I had several responses IDing the bracelet as a Girl Scout award. What's funny is, while I was posting the finds, I was eating a few Girl Scout cookies, LOL, peanut butter Tagalongs to be exact. I guess you can lead a mule to water but... I registered the bracelet on the Girl Scouts official web site, maybe they can help find the owner. Would be a joy to return it!!! HH, Mike

For some reason your pics don't come up over here in Iraq. That's OK though becasue as of today I can officially say that we're heading home next month!!! At home I can see your posted pics just fine so I'll be seeing them soon.

Sorry about the puppy bomb!

HH,
SgtSki

Good stuff Mike, Congrats!!!
Those boy scout items sure did get around... Do they have the scouts over there in Germany?, or did that thing do a lot of traveling?
Continued Good luck, & Happy hunting~

To be honest, detecting on a US Army military post is just like detecting any US park but I get the benefits of the foreign coins and relics as well along with the military finds, it is just better, LOL! A US Army post in a foreign country is just like a small America, Boyscouts, Girlscouts, parks, sports fields and all that. It really is great detecting these sites but I prefer old relic hunting. HH, Mike

Hi Mike , Congrats on your silver and i know few places to find US relics too. ;D ;D ;D

Are you going to try and locate this gal? Wonder what the history is behind it?

Hi, was stationed in Baumholder in 1965 for two years. My commanding officer would have me go to the American Express office and get rolls of coins to check for dates for his coin collection. I lost some rolls, hole in bank bag, in between the Express office and the Post Office, never did find them. Might look over there. Way to cold and windy there.

Yes I am trying to locate Rita Pribnow and would be very happy to return her bracelet! Oldhermit34, I did find 28 pennies in a small 3 square foot area, most all of them were Wheat cents. I suspect a roll of pennies had been dropped there and I almost detected it again today, looked at the exact spot but decided to go back up to the old Officer's club, across from the old NCO club for another hunt today. Was your office near the NCO club? Would have been at the top of a hill, Old Ironsides Headquarters, it is still there and it is still the Headquarters building. There is a nice small field in front of the building, going down hill from the Headquarters, I will detect it tomorrow. If I find a roll of coins, I will share some with you and mail them to you. I will PM you this post just in case you don't see it. HH, Mike
