My local Goodwill(the one I scored big silver in) has one manager that is serious about getting as much $$ as possible out of their merchandise. He usually takes the really great stuff that comes in and places it in their weekly auctions. In fact, two weeks ago, he walked up to me as I was "deciding" whether to buy a early model Kitchen Aid mixer for the marked price of $19.99. He said "I can't believe they put that on the shelf! I'm sorry, but this belongs in the auction!" and then took it away! I wasn't a jerk about it but laughed and said "Its my fault for taking too long to decide to buy it!". He told me that he wants customers to get Deals, not Steals! We joke about it all of the time. Well anyway! I was looking at a nice 1956 Emeco Aluminum Secretary chair that he priced at $16.99 when we both saw a NuTone Food Center in the original box priced at $14.99. I had no idea what it was, but tit looked pretty nice. He proceeds to tell me (after I picked it up before he could snatch it) that he had looked them up online and that some of them go for $300 and he doesn't know why the other manager didn't put it in the auction! I bought the chair and the Food Center.
Well, I looked up prices on eBay and they sell for a premium. I didn't want to be too greedy, so I listed it for less than the most current sale and current models on eBay. Less than an hour later…the guy who sells the modern food center bought it. I know I sold it cheap…but it was waaaaay more than I expected to get when I bought it…

Wow, nice score. Great profit. Seriously? The guy takes the stuff back for auction? How obnoxious. If the other puts it out, too bad on him.
