tiger shark at san diego beaches and in salt water

Hello all I am thinking of buying a tiger shark for hunting in San Diego, Ca. I hunt land about 30% of the time, beaches dry sand to waterline about 50% of the time and salt water up to my waist and less about 20% of the time. I may use in fresh water once in a while as I travel a lot. the thing is I have heard that the tiger shark is a great fresh water machine an ok land machine and not so good in salt water. Before I buy would like to here from someone who actually uses the tiger shark in salt water and get their opinion. Thanks and HH Ted

i have owned many water detectors over the years 3 being Tiger Sharks.good detector in fresh water and ok in salt but it lacks depth compaired to CZ20,CZ21,Sovereign GT and Excal.it will find small gold like post ear rings and chains that most other detectors miss.about 8" in depth on salt beach was all i could get with it with 8" coil.the good thing is,you can change the coil on the Tiger,while the other water detectors are hard wired in.my findings are ...the best beach detector iv ever used was the Sovereign GT w/S12 coil..15" on a dime was common.next would be the CZ21 w/8",works well in salt water and dry land,about 12" depth on a dime,CZ20 same as the CZ21 ,the Excalibur 1000 ,very coumbersome to use,odd shape is hard to body mount,too heavy to shaft mount .read many reports of knobs falling off.of the 2 i owned about 10/12" 0n a dime.then the Tiger Shark.well made easy to body mount,lifetime warranty,easy to use,but does not have the Target ID Tones that all the above have,and not as deep.good luck DD
