I am very, very pleased that Tesoro is producing the Tiger Shark.

I owned one years ago.

I know the Tiger Shark works great on dry land, fresh water, and dry sand at ocean beaches.

I also know the Tiger Shark comes with a Salt Mode, but how well does that work in wet sand? I'm not taking about those serious black sand beaches like you find in Hawaii that can really play havoc with a detector, but your standard white/grey beaches you find up and down the east coast.

Can anyone give me some input on this?

How deep have you found it can go?

Does it require serious adjustment to senstivity?

I just wonder because this is a single frequency VLF detector.

Since the Salt Mode works differently on different beaches due to amount of black sand and the salt concentrations. Nobody talks about the various amount of salt at different locations but it is there just like the amounts of black sand. I've had some beaches where I didn't need it in the wet sand and others where I couldn't use it with the Salt Mode turned on and had to resort to using another detector. So I mostly settled on the Excal so I could hunt anywhere.

I found that if changing to the larger coil I had to cut back on the sens a might. Course now Tesoro's water detectors are hardwired. The smaller coil wasn't bothered by the wet sand as much either and depths were mostly just over the coils dia. except with the Clean Sweep Coil which isn't made anymore and Joe of (USA) has my coil now. Depth with the CSC was about 7" even though it is 3"X18" DD. It was more of a surface drop and ate up the sand in the area. Mostly when you get a Tesoro Tiger Shark it is best to not adjust the Sens setting, PERIOD.

Hope this helps,
Sandman
