I'm looking into a tiger shark. I see there good in fresh water, I go maybe 2 Times a year to ocean city Maryland Will it work good in the salt water.

No, not well. It will work, but it is designed for FRESH water use. It's Brother, the SAND Shark, is a Pulse Induction unit built for saltwater.

I have used the Tiger Shark in saltwater but as Terry said, it was erratic. The Sand Shark will find every hairpin or junk in freshwater since they won't rust as fast.

Lol if I had the money I'd get both or the Excalibur

As Terry suggested, the CZ-21 works in both fresh water and salt. Excellent disc and is quite deep. Batteries last a long time too. But if you get the Tiger Shark it will also work well on the dry sand at a salt water beach.

I have a Tiger Shark and use it in freshwater only just because I am too far from the ocean. In freshwater it is almost unbelievable. I also looked at the Excal and seriously considered it, but I read too much about them needing repairs and how lengthy the repair times were.

If I were in your shoes and wanted one detector for both freshwater and saltwater I would buy a CZ21. If it needed repairs Fisher seems to have pretty outstanding customer service. I have nothing against minelab, but from what I have read their customer service seems to be hit and miss. Maybe that has changed now, but I don't know. My take on it is- you either have good customer service or you don't.

I talked to a dealer from tnet and he said I would have no problem with one in freshwater. The cz21 is a little out if my budget even for a used one. Ones I saw were like 1300 for a used one
