Tiger Shark's a winner (UPDATED)

I already own a XLT but purchased a Tiger Shark to start water hunting. Day one I found a sterling chain and pendant in the sand.

Day 2, my first day of water detecting, I found a lovely, but very tiny 24k gold and blue saphire pinkie ring. The Tiger Shark was easy to use, light in the water and certainly finds the good stuff!

Way to go Beach! You'll love the Tiger Shark, I know I do. Congrats.

Re: Tiger Shark's a winner (UPDATED)

You will find the Tiger Shark to be sensitive to those gold chains. Tesoro used to make a Clean Sweep coil for the Tiger Shark, 18X3 inches that covered lots of area at a beach or swim area in a faster amount of time so you could beat the competition at these areas. However it is discontinued. http://www.tesoro.com/coils.html I was lucky in being able to get one for my TS and it is awesome.

Re: Tiger Shark's a winner (UPDATED)

I'd lke to see them add selectable tone ID - like the Golden has - to the Tiger Shark. Keep everything else the same... what a machine that would be.

Newbie here, I have and love my tiger shark and wanted to let everyone know that you can buy a clean sweep coil 3" x 18",for the tiger with what's called a land/water adapter from any Tesoro dealer. The only issue is it's not water proof at the connection. I just got one today, $160 for the coil and $30 for the adapter. I've had my Shark for three weeks and found a wopping 21 rings, 2 watches, countless ear rings and $83 in clad.

Beachbling,

I'm water detecting with the TS also. I'd be interested in knowing how you use it and have it set up. I'm always open to ideas and new tricks. Do you have it pole mounted or hip mounted? Joe

Re: Tiger Shark's a winner (UPDATED)

The biggest thing that i can offer is on the clean sweep coil i recently purchased. The connection at the land/water adapter in not water proof but awesome in the sand, covers three times as much area very quickly. Also you really need to pay attention the faintest sounds, with the clean sweep coil as most of my best finds were faint. The faint signal means the object is deeper than 4-5 inches. I take a scoop then you can actually put the coil right in the hole since it's only 3" wide. Also pinpointing is very very accurate. Good luck with your discovery's, and i noticed you have Cortes which is another awesome machine. Love the hobby!!

Re: Tiger Shark's a winner (UPDATED)

I just bought a used Tiger and I hope to get it wet for the first time this weekend.Wish me luck.

Re: Tiger Shark's a winner (UPDATED)

Be sure you properly seal the o-ring before getting it wet.Not positive what the correct product is to use, I still have some that came with my new shark. It appears to be vasoline/silicone type lube. A quick email to Tesoro will get the answer.

Re: Tiger Shark's a winner (UPDATED)

After looking on the web for several months I had decided to get a tiger, but now I have run into a concern. It seems they are invisible. I have yet to only find one place on the web or off to get it. That is through a guy who sells on eBay. what concerns me is service after the sell. Can anyone direct me to several different places to buy a tiger.

Thanks, ric

Re: Tiger Shark's a winner (UPDATED)

Service will never be an issue with any Tesoro product. I bought mine at metaldetector.com great price, free delivery, and just great people to deal with. And actually i bought it through e bay. Anyway i was so excited to get it i drove to their office in Southborough Mass to pick it up. Good Luck

Re: Tiger Shark's a winner (UPDATED)

I bought mine from Tony at http://www.tcmetaldetectors.com/. Just ordered it a week ago and can't wait to get it. Planning on a Bahamas trip with it and searching old home/school sites (circa 1920s near my homestead in PA.

I bought one last week from Tony also. He seems like a great guy and Sandman gives him an excellent recommendation.

Ollieboy,

Was wondering where you got the adapter for clean sweep coil from? I seen one before but can't seem to find it now. Thanks.

Re: Tiger Shark's a winner (UPDATED)

It should be possible to 'waterproof' the land adapter connector by using latex rubber tubing (the kind they sell at medical supply places and also used for slingshots, fishing). All you have to do is 'step' it with progressively larger ID tubing till you can fit a tubing 'sleeve' over the whole works. ...Willy.

Re: Tiger Shark's a winner (UPDATED)

Tesoro may just take the market majority of sales! Other manufacturers need to take heed. It's interesting how such a small company can survive in America. Just goes to show you that we still produce superior products. Way to go Giffords
