There were 4 versions that BH put out for the TR, is the earlier versions worth it for anything less then 75.00 US, or if I find a version 4 for between 50 to 100 would that be my best bet or go with a used LRP? As I don't want to buy new in either of these two as I am thinking of a Patriot down the road..or think my Garrets 300i would be fine...oh yeah Im Canadian shopping US...8-)

TR is a sleeper...that is for sure. One of the deepest 6.6khz macines ever made. Recovery speed is not fantastic...but if you keep is low and slow it will hit 8 inches in decent soil. Has a ton of options to keep a person busy too. I thought it was a pretty neat machine when I reviewed it.

I'd take a LRP anyday however..it is faster and passes some nail tests even my T2 can't pass. Not saying it's better than a T2 obviously...just something to note.

I had the time ranger for a while. I liked it, but based on videos from HunterGT and others, I think the LRP is a little better. The time ranger was deep, but it was also slow. That and the DD coil on the LRP will give good depth and better separation. There aren't too many areas that have coins in the ground and no trash, so the separation is a big deal. I now have the patriot and you won't be disappointed if your budget allows it.
