Can anyone give me some more information about this wonderful little large cent lookalike cuff button?
I found this tiny (1/2" diam) button that has the design of a US gold coin at a site dating from the mid 1860s - 1920s. Has anybody got any information about it? It had a loop shank, but if there was ever a backmark, it is now just a rusty lump (back is apparently iron, not brass). The button was gilt at one time... there is a bit remaining in the background
