DAY 1
I went back to try and finish the new permission yard at the 1920 house. I spent 5 hours swingin the CZ21 and found 18 coins with a face value of $1.59, an aluminum toy knife, a plated spoon, a dead pocket knife, a cap gun hammer, 3 keys, 3 buttons, a silver quarter, a hem weight, a key chain, part of a harmonica reed, bullets, a fancy embellishment, half a rouge container, foil, can slaw, copper wire, aluminum nails and 11 tabs.
The silver quarter is a 1951 S in decent shape. We don’t find many San Francisco mint coins here in the east so a nice find.
The spoon is plated and of an interesting design. It in marked ONIEDA COMMUNITY PAR PLATE. On the front the bust has MAE MURRAY underneath. Mae Murray was a silent film star from 1916 to 1931.
The buttons are US military great seal buttons. The first one I found didn’t have a back and I was afraid I had hit it with my trowel, but when I looked at it closer I could see roots inside so the back has been gone a long time. The second one was about 6 feet away and had its back and shank. I can read enough of the backmark to see that the mark is CHAS FISCHER SPG CO NEW YORK. The identification information I found identifies this mark as World War 2 with a ?. I check several places and they all have the same info. So the exact dates this mark was used is uncertain.
The keys are also interesting. One is a normal house key. The second is a an old one, but it has a messed up end. The third is a very different type. It is marked MEDART ST LOUIS on one side and BELL LOCK CO CHICAGO on the back.
DAY 2
Summer camp is over so I went back to the scout camp to do more cleaning up, looking for spots not done before and hoping for new losses in others. I spent 6 hours swingin the CZ21 and found 89 coins with a face value of $8.72, 30 camp tent pegs, military blanks from the reencators, 2 rope tensioners, 3 neckerchief slides, some scout emblems, a mess kit wing nut, a modern bullet, a clevis pin, hat pin backs, zipper pulls (the silly things are everywhere but I don’t always show them), a wheatie, a bent aluminum carabiner, sinkers, tent grommets, foil, aluminum cans, 2 batteries, melted foil from the campfires and 8 tabs.
The rifle cartridges are all military blanks, used by reenactors at camp many years ago. Most of the headstamps are so bad they are unreadable, but 2 of them are legible and they are F N *. That tells me they were made by Fabrique Nationale. Unfortunately there is no date, just a star so no way to tell exactly when they were made.
DAY 3
I got back in the water at the park swimming area. It has been 3 weeks since I was here last and I was hoping for some new losses. I spent 3.5 hours swingin the ATPro in half of one of the 3 swimming areas. Things were pretty quiet, but I did manage to find some jewelry and coins. Altogether I found 29 coins with a face value of $1.79, assorted jewelry, 1 and a piece of a tab, a selfie stick retainer, a brass safety pin, a fishing swivel, a sinker, foil and a tent peg.
Only one piece of good jewelry and it is an earring back. Not great, but al least it’s something.
I did find 2 rings. The first is a black finish stainless steel that is well worn. The other is a cheapie metal toe ring. It’s the right color, just the wrong metal.
This cross is a real beauty. When I saw it I thought for sure I had a winner. It is shiny and heavy, but I couldn’t find a mark on it. When I had it under the glass looking for a mark I noticed that the loop at the top had a lot of wear from the chain it was hanging from. If you look closely you can see the copper shining through the plating. I don’t pay much attention to the VDI numbers, but this time it was 81 and 82. Those are the numbers for a copper penny which would be right for plated copper. If it was silver it should have been a much higher number.
DAY 4
I went back to the park swimming area to cover the other half. Again pretty quiet, but I did get more jewelry and coins. In another 3.5 hours with the ATPro I found 30 coins with a face value of $3.73, assorted jewelry, a selfie stick retainer, 2 sinkers, 4 tabs, an older style key chain, part of a toy car and foil.
The ring stainless and has a sparkly center strip. On the inside it is marked ALWAYS US.
NON DETECTOR FINDS
I did find a Canadian nickel in the coinstar at Wally World and a penny on the floor at the mall.
At the scout camp I found a friendly toad in the grass on the edge of the campsite.

Some times they use blanks at a 21 gun salute for a burial also
