Hit a pounded colonial cellar hole yesterday and found this tiny broken buckle that seems to be made of tombac. I have found my share of colonial shoe and other buckles, just wondering what such a small one was used for? A Fugio cent and other coins as well as other artifacts came from this site so I have to go back once in a while although the targets are getting very scarce.

I did some looking. I could not find a single 18th century buckle with that simple point. In fact, none had points. I DID find a Revolutionary War reenactment buckle, that is very similar. It would explain the mixed metal construction. If the squares it is displayed on are 1 inch, the size is close. All I got.

Just saw Crusader's post, and looked some more.

Belt and strap buckles found at Jamestown.

Don't know how to do that. Thanks for the ID, a couple 17th century buttons have come from this site too.
