Tired Ol' Barber Dime
On the way home from church today I drove by this Old Historic school house ( circa 1850's - closed 1966 ) that I have been trying to get permission to hunt for about 2 years and as luck would have it, someone was there. I pulled in and struck up a conversation with the guy and he was the man who in fact owned the property. After 55 minutes I was on my way to get brother KirkTN and the metal detectors. Your probably wondering how I know it took 55 minutes huh, WELL my wife was waiting in the car and she was very forthcoming with exactly how long the grueling process took. LOL By the time we got back we had about 2 hours till dark.
The grass was a bit high and I kinda skipped around a bunch hoping to find a concentrated area of coins. NO such luck but I did get a 1901 Barber Dime WORN THIN TIRED little guy, One 1/2 pence South african coin apparently worn around a students neck, one 1941 wheat and the garden variety of old relics and trash. One interesting find made out of cast iron I guess. It appears to be off some kind of old chair pictured still in the hole. I'll post better pics once I get a chance to clean it up and get some photo's . Hopefully we'll have more time and luck on our next hunt.
