Me and my boys went out to Caulk Ridge park this weekend in Salido Texas and went walking the dry creek bed. Lots of quarts laying around. My son found this and was wondering is this a pice of a scrapper or just a broken pice of flint. Thanks for looking and any help.

It's a very nice piece of material but it's just debris from the flint knapping process.. It's a result of creating a projectile point or tool..( reduction flake).. . It shows you're in the right place I would definitely look closer where you found that by the looks of the material you might find something very nice.

agree a reduction flake . keep hunting the area your getting warm gl and have a great time in the creeks.

Now they did use flakes at times for scrapers but yours doesn't show the edge work so yeah just a flake. Nice color on it. I have been known to put a flake or 2 in a frame with the other artifacts I find if it comes from the same area and is the same color as the artifacts I have found.

Nice find! Now keep your eyes open for that color and you might find more flakes or the item that was created from it! I keep all the flakes I find, no matter how big or small and hoping I find what was made from it.

From the sounds of things, you need to go back there and look for what they may have made.

yep i am just about 4 hours away from house. So have to wait till i have a chance lol
