Electrolysis may set it free.

Spray that thing down with a can of PB Buster and should work then. That stuff will get anything unstuck.

There is an oil we use at where I used to work called Kroil, or KanoKroil. This stuff usually breaks anything rusty loose. But you may have to keep soaking down the hinge portion for a while. Awesome stuff. I hope you get it to work enough to see if there is a seal left in it. Cool find.

Thank you all for the feedback!

We use Kroil oil at work too. It's the best thing ever for freeing up rusted parts and bolts. WD-40 is no contest for it.

I had one instance where the Kroil didn't work on a rusty header flange bolt. The mechanics at work gave me some beeswax. Once I heated it and melted some beeswax in, it freed up for me to remove. This will give you one more option.

Thanks! The mechanism is broken, so I will probably cut it up to get the stamp. It is a true shame.

try the urine of a 24 year old female, it works wonders

If it is a notary stamp, It is actually illegal to possess it! State laws mandate its destruction and the person that simply discarded it(if still alive) is guilty of a misdemeanor.

Cheers!

those type of seals were also used by many companies

:icon_scratch: From an antique perspective leave it alone, no matter the stamp its worth more as a full relic than just a stamp head. Everything everyone said will just decrease the value. :BangHead: Leave it alone put it on your desk let your grand-kids decide what to do with it in 80 years... :dontknow: From a curious point of view, break that thing in half and see what it is but it won't likely change the value.... :sadsmiley:

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:

The seal is not a notary seal, it is a company seal. I will repair the iron body of the stamper and did little damage removing the seal. It says MOTION INCORPORATED MICHIGAN CORPORATE SEAL. The company no longer exists according to my research so far. I can't find any info on the company.

Very interesting find,

As others have stated, use Kroil oil first see if it will free up, you can always cut it later if you wish to view the seal.

Regards,

good, would hate to have to visit you in prison

Haha I am glad what I have is legal lol! It is a nice little addition to my collection. I am so glad I won't be going to the slammer!
