I decided to stay in my own yard today since I didn't have time to go somewhere.
Right in front of our house where I've hunted so many times before I find two old coins, a piece of cheap old jewelry, and a 1930's style metal car.
The top picture shows some items as dug. The enlarged coins pictures are after a little wash with soap and then coated with mineral oil so they show better on the scanner.
The nickel only needs a month or so in the oil soak. The Indian head cent will be there much longer but it will be great when finished. This is one of the sharpest detailed Indians I have ever found. The greatness of this 1880 coin doesn't show in this picture.
After I dug the piece of jewelry and two coins I went back out and within 4 feet of where I dug the coins and jewelry I dug this old metal car.
I got careless digging and hit the car with the shovel. I'll fix it this coming winter and it will look good once again. Never throw these old bent toys away! They can be re-conditioned.
Thanks for reading all this and stopping by... 8)
