Today and yesterday at the farm

It's feeling like spring! We are taking advantage of the farm before they start planting. Bob got the coins. A 1918 wheat and an 1864 Indian. Weird thing is we find very few coins but we have found 3 1864 indians. Very odd. I got some nice flat buttons. We found some pretty chert chips. To the left of the dog tag (Bob's find) is 2 items I have questions about. The lead thing marked 1/2 is that a fishing weight or ?? The thing next to the weight has a round glass in the center but light does not go through. What could it be? Thanks for looking!

Looks like an old coin sinker. I have a mold for that.

Due to people hoarding coins during the civil war, they were in very short supply. To answer that, the mint produced 54 million 1864 Indian head cents. A far higher number than minted before and after. It wouldn’t be until 1890 that the mint matched that number again. Look for the “L” on your 1864. It’s just below the ribbon that goes across liberty’s neck. Very hard to see. Worth 4-5X as much as 1864 without L.
