Regards + HH

Nice one, congrats and welcome to the site!

Welcome to Treasurenet !!
Reminds me of coinage from the Parisii tribe.
Can you post a pic of the reverse?
Thanks,
Don....

I'm leaning towards Carnutes. What do you think Don?

Westfront,
I agree;they are another strong candidate. I was concentrating on the lips; similar to those shown on the OP's coin and on the coins of the two tribes we mentioned. Seeing the reverse of the OP's coin might provide more clues.
Don....

Wow I would love something that old in my display case !!!!That is great great History there. Thanks for sharing it

Wow! Love seeing the really old coins you guys dig up. Congratulations!

Work at SHAPE?

A cool find, I would love to see some more pictures!

I drove a Turkish Major General for a week during SHAPEX 76 while NATO talks were ongoing. Wish I had a metal detector back then and had time to search some fields over there.

Frank

Wouldn't have done you much good unless you like breaking the Law. It's illegal, mostly due to the amount of WWII ordnance laying about.

Nice coin find, congratulations! :occasion14:

That is the ultimate dirty old penny. That even puts a teens wheaty to shame.

And the reverse

Crusader: Not this tour - I was at NATO HQ with the US Delegation. I was at SHAPE from 2006-2010 though - and where I started metal detecting as a project to find troop locations for units in the 23/24 August 1914 Battle of Mons!
