Today's coin-cidence

Been going over our front and back yards very slowly and thoroughly for two weeks as I have had time. I've turned up a fair amount of wheat cents, a 1946 dime, and some interesting relics. Today, I turned up another dime, a 1952 D. The very next thing I found, about 20 feet away, was a 1952 D wheat cent. Then it got really strange. Got a strong signal and dug a clear glass marble. There was no metal in the hole at all. The only thing I can figure is some soil mineralization around where the marble was buried, but it sure was an interesting afternoon!

I've dug a handful of old marbles, but never got a signal from one, always eyeballed when digging a metal target. Interesting. Congrats on the silver coins!

Marbles always seem to find me.....I mean , middle of the desert....top of a mountain , I'm finding y'alls lost Marbles !

Lead in the marble?

Ran the detector over the marble after it was out of the hole....nothing. Also checked the hole very thoroughly....nothing.

But then again, over the years I have been like the Pied Piper of clear glass marbles. I will post that strange tale soon in the marble section.

love the marbles too. as a kid, we would cut old golf balls looking for small clear marbles as well as spray paint cans

16 wheat cents from 1939 through 1953

3 memorial cents '60 '63 '64

2 dimes '46 '52

1988 quarter

small pocket knife

UMC shotgun shell head No 12 SMOKELESS made from 1892 to 1902

likely Civil War era large bullet

compass....glass lens completely intact, innards gone to nothing but fine powder

toy shovel made of lead

Dexter key, nice red patina

not sure about item at lower right....small rod was inside it

item at lower left *might* be chunk out of an old mower deck....perfect for me, because I restore old mowers

also found negative terminal nut for my portable gas generator that I didn't even know was lost!

Do you use a pinpointer? It is extremely easy for a coin to slip deeper and on edge making it much much harder to detect. Since it is in your yard, if yoi remember where, I'd check again. Strong repeatable signals don't just disappear.
