Today's dime box ----------Is this normal?

Brinks $250 dime box produced 1 silver dime (1948p)... But the real question is:

Out of the box (should be 2,500 dimes), Mine had several rolls with less dimes than normal (as many as 4 dimes per roll shorted!!)

Out of the box of dimes I paid $250 for, it only contained only $247.60, $2.40 short... I am not really mad, but moreless dissapointed on the shortages I got from that box.

Is this normal? Has this happened to anyone else on here?

Though 1 roll did have 51 dimes in it, one had 46 dimes and many 47-48!

Silver dime is worth $2.96 at current spot, covers the cost, but that's not the point.

I've not had boxes of dimes short before. I have had half dollars have several rolls short, but surprisingly the other rolls were over such that the boxes both came out perfect. I know bags of dimes can be really short.

Yes, that is normal to be short in rolls

Bring a scale with you and weigh the rolls there at the bank. All short rolls, just exchange for full roll while you're there.

One time, I had a $500 box where 15 rolls were short. That's when I got tired of it and brought in a scale. Many shorted rolls since but no problems since I exchanged them.

[/quote]It's happened to me hundreds of times. I do get a lot of Canadian rejects, but when I add it up, my dimes are either counted as cents, or are just plain short. The fun makes up for it!

When brinks rolls them its just big machines that do it so there are likely to be shortages. I go through penny and nickel rolls for errors and come across this alot when they are machine rolled.

Its all part of playing the coin roll hunting game. I have been getting hand rolled halfs from one of my pick up banks, and they have been $1.50 short. I told the tellers to crack down, on the person dumping them. They said they would check the count the next time. I told them that would be great. They said i dont have to take them if I didnt want to. I said its no big deal. This bank gets me 3 boxes a week, with out question. They also save me any odd ball stuff that comes into the bank. I know they dont want to deal with the rolls. We will see what happens next week. HH

looks just like my roll which had 46 in it!!! I agree, it's all part of the game. No complaining since I did get a 1948p roosie

That makes 4 boxes of dimes this year and 3 silvers.
