This is my ring found on low tide. I don't know if the ring is silver, titanium, or whatever, no engraving inside.

I can tell you that by the way the metal looks it’s a good metal, brass or gold I can’t tell… looks scratched up but color remains the same throughout.. indicating a type of pure metal… good luck 🍀

If you wear a wedding band, look at it, you will see fine scratches, but at a distant you can't see any color change in those scratches, its something I look for at yard sales to see if a ring is gold or not, plated changes colors in the scratched area..

.16oz is only about 4.5 grams. A gold ring that big should be a bit heavier.

Acid test kit would be a good way of knowing, they are about 18 dollars and will save you a lot of questions..
Gold is soft and the other metals like titanium and stainless steel are hard metals when scratching on the test stone. And the hard metals will pass all of the acid test. Good Luck and Keep us informed.

When it comes to brass, I would say no. And brass rubbed with your fingers will smell, Gold does not smell when rubbed.

Yeah, depending on the ring size, Titanium would be the lightest, then stainless, then silver. Gold, Platinum, and Tungsten Carbide would be a LOT heavier than what your scale reads. Usually they're marked on the better rings. Sometimes It's real faint, so, clean it real well and put a loupe on it.

Get a acid test kit that tests gold and silver, they are not that expensive. As Torrero said, the color should remain same color when scratched if not plated. The fact no engraving showing metal content on inside ring is not good sign of it being precious metal, but not a guarantee. More likely SS or titanium ...

Something to mention here, if you get an acid tester, get one with silver tester also, because you will need that too.
That being said, after having an acid tester for about a year, I can tell immediately when I scratch the stone whether it's going to be Gold or Copper or Stainless simply by the way the color of the scratch is, if the scratch is coppery colored you know its not gold, if it's HARD to scratch and doesn't leave much of a line (gold or silver) it's probably stainless or some other steel related metal..
BTW Stainless steel will hold up to 14k-18k acid and I had to use 22k acid to clean off the stone, apparently steel doesn't acid burn very well.. but it's very hard to scratch compared to soft gold or silver..
