I have found many more of these Burnt wood pieces all shaped about the same and burnt on the end. They appear to me to have been inserted around a pot in the coals to keep it upright and I'm sure you could just grab one to melt some pitch or..asphaltum .. when making tools around the fire. Just my guess. At first I was reluctant to belive they were that old but this site is impressive. Today I found them in direct relation to camp rock with fire char on them and the rest of the artifacts including the point. I still could be wrong of corse but I'm always sceptical and now I'm thinking they are what they appear to be.

Wow, nice cache of stuff there Bill. Is that a shark vertebrae in the mix?

Ha ha.. yup

seems this collection has a little bit of everything! Shell fossil? Points, sticks for the fire, pottery and marine life!

Gotta love it.

Love it!

makes sense having cooking sticks/pot sticks, etc. around/near the fire! The one I showed was also burnt on the big end, not the sharpened end.

But there's nothing like roasting bits of meat over a fire with a stick. And something had to hold up pots and such at times! Great to find an association like that. All the pottery over here is broken. They did it on purpose. Lordy, how I've tried to put a few together!

Ha ha yeah It is daunting. Good to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by
