I did a hunt with a friend today. I got pumped rite away cause I found a nice point sticking base up and I knew it was a good one....till I pulled it. I think I felt a tear in the corner of my eye. I did find some other stuff but nothing was complete. It was still a good day and we had fun. HH everyone, rock

No need to cry. That's a nice handful. The base looks old. Is it older than archaic?

When you find a good one it is always unexpected. Cool artifact finds Rock!!!

Great finds !!!

I forgot to tell you I saw a huge milling stone on the bank! It was granite I believe. It would take a crane to pull that thing out. Probably 3 ft wide and close to a foot thick.

I'd probably check out Yadkin or Hamilton on that base.

The base has been thinned down on it.

I would check out that mill stone, they are worth bucks and the other things are a good find:thumbsup:

Rock, is the longer dark brown piece in the last photo more modern pottery? If so have you thought of metal detecting that area while head hunting?

That one is definately more modern...its glazed... And the piece next to it?
It almost looks like a crusted clipped coin.
Reminds me of some I find.

One is a old piece of china and the other is a old clay base handmade and the writing on it says R.H. 1957 which is done by hand not in a factory. We find allot of historical type pieces in that creek but nothing whole yet. Its a good creek to hunt in you never know what you might find. The creek was kinda high if it had been lower we probably could of found more stuff.

I just did a GE view of the area and got the street names. I know somebody that might go in with it if the owner doesnt want it. I just dont know how to approach the owner just yet. Any ideas?
I did a price check and if it is perfect without any damage it could go as high as $4000 retail. If it has nice decoration on it then maybe higher but it is only worth what somebody would pay. On the low end $1500.
You can actually see it in the pic Ive posted. The whole bank looks interesting. Id like to swing the MD out there.
