Did a full penny box today and found a few wheats. lots of 2009d pennies with all 4 variations . also about 30% of the box was copper pennies which was nice. (added that to my copper pile) Then came a across 40 or so "S" mint mark pennies dating from 68 to 74. I find this odd as I never found that many before in one box. Anyone else find a lot of these.

half box = skunk
dime box = skunk

1968-1974 San fran mint I pull them from all my rolls. They are hard to find here on the East Coast. There are some errors and variations . But to get 40 plus in a box would be unheard of here . 5 to 10 would be rare in a ten dollar box. Rob

thanks for the response. I was really surprised at the quantity of S mints I did get. I will have to try another box.

I'm guessing maybe a west coast hoard of pennies got cashed in? Someone who moved to the east coast with a bag of pennies decided to cash them in ?

I just put all those "S" mints here with the rest of the copper. They're common here.
