Nice finds for 30 minutes of hunting! Seems the kids are richer today than when I was a kid. We got 25 cents for buying milk for the whole week...no more money than that to bring to school.

HH,
Anita

Yeah, there were 2 kids around 9-10 asking why I would be picking up change. I told them its the dig that gets me. There reply was " you can't buy anything cool with change". WTH is wrong with kids these days? Haha

yeah i hate when i get an "audience", kids these days are usually ignorant to the hobby and yell stupid things like "find any treasure or find gold yet" but in a sarcastic tone, dont get me wrong, not all kids are like that but at least where im from a majority are

Yeah. they said some dumb things like that i just ignored and kept to myself.

@ Dectector Dave- Nothing yet first time there. I bet I could go there for a week straight and dig. Every few swings i got a sweet sound from the MD. Im going to let it dry out a bit first cause it was still kinda raining and all nasty and i tracked mud up my driveway and lets just say the Mrs wasnt happy to see all my buried treasure this evening. lol

I have had kids grab the finds as soon as I dug them up and keep them. Most of the time just new change. Have to go home or new spot when there are lots of kids around. Not worth getting mad over. Have fun.

Unfortunately youngster nowadays are just the way you guys just described....i think what its missing is respect. Im not a grandfather myself or anywhere near an advanced age. Due to society and media kids have turned the way they are. Not all of them, but i would say the majority......and trust me not only in the States but in many other western countries. Some of them eventually will grow up and realize the d@%khead they were and try to do some good, and some will just get worse and reduce society to the lowest. This post might have carried me away a bit too long but i'd like to finish by saying "old school rule". Lets carry on detecting, which is a genuine, peaceful, relaxing hobby their silly heads cant understand. Peace. :-) :-)

I am a corrections officer so don't get me started on the younger generation. I see first hand the disrespect young adults have. Still love old schools se you out there some day.

Will not get you started detector dave ;-) Happy detecting!! Cheers

I save my schools for sunday hunts, not much playground activity at 9am Sunday morning, saves a lot of aggravation from the little darlings:laughing7:

I like schools... When they are empty lol

You dig fast, but looks like one of my hunts for sure. You are pretty good with the AT Pro, you will find rings, I can tell. As for kids I don't have the disrespect problem. They may jump in a hole and dig like a dog or want to help. But its the ones who real young and they step on the coil I try to avoid. I had one kid who would mumble , you couldn't understand a word he said. I just played along and we had one heck of a conversation. Had a bunch of high school kids earth day seen me pull a ring out of the wood chips, the high school kids acted worse than the 4 years olds I see with the moms. I get a lot of moms asking questions too, wish I knew that when I was young and single. The care takers are the best folks though, you get some good tips from them. You are doing ok, and know how to post pictures too, guess we will be seeing a lot of you. Congrats on the hunt.

Yeah I totally see the future youth of this country and its scary for the most part for sure. I blame video games, movie's and lazy parents haha. @ Casca- Thank you. Getting the feeling of her pretty good but still learning her. The playground find were easy because most of my finds they were close to surfaces and all over the place I literally only hit a 1/4 of the playground if that. I def going to go hit it tonight for a bit if the future MRS allows. I will say one thing I believe I have found another addicting hobby :)

i would say extremely addictive!! The "can't sleep at night" kind of addiction. hehehh ;-)

A day when the quarters are as frequent as the cents equals a good day! :icon_thumright: We haven't had the negative detecting experiences with kids or teens that many of you mention, either in parks or at beaches. Have met many friendly, respectful folks of all ages from two to ninety! BUT I agree with the general comments here that many kids and teens these days haven't developed respect or character. Many reasons in society for this decline, but it starts with the parents, imo. My young grandkids were allowed positive video games only and the family deliberately did not have television. Not only does avoiding or limiting tv keep kids from mindless or negative shows, it frees up family time hugely for positive interaction between kids and parents, as well as giving kids free time to make up their own games! Well, guess I'm getting close to a rant, so adios for now, lol. :laughing7: Andi

You have mastered one way to hunt. The quick finds close to the surface will fill your pockets up quick. When you go deep, try to stay away from the trashy areas. I like it your not good because you own a AT Pro, your At Pro is good as you have figured out how to use it. I miss the fact I didn't have one when I started, but am very happy with the Fisher. I think the At Pro has done a lot for the hobby, it puts some good tech in your hands at a affordable price. Don't get the big head like some on here, you will have days your skunked. But that is really a good hunt. You have a place that is not hunted out. Might want to keep it to yourself for now. Good Luck.
