little swing was quite fruitful to say the least. Musket balls, buckles, buttons, lead and the last picture has 2 white plaster like items, found on the surface, a large metal mushroom and a disc… presumably both modern but a target is a target when ur an addict 😆

Another great outing! Congratulations

So many of your merry old recoveries scream old! Old old compared to the stuff I encounter in a youngly settled area here.
yes there's old stuff. Feet down/ meters deep on average!

Have you researched whether there may have been a firing range on that property in the past? An Army or Police post? Seems like a lot of lead to have been randomly fired around as in a hunting situation. There,s a definite pattern to those fired balls that makes me think they could be traced to a specific type of weapon.Find that and you can determine what time period it was in use.Possibly leading to an age for your lead. An expert on Old British firearms would be the go to guy here. Surely you have historical societies for your shires or countys as we call them,a good source of info too.Of course you may not want to go to those lengths and if so,I,m good with that.Just a thought!

Yes, I’m always researching the area! We know there was a civil war battle here, Parliamentarians v the Royalist in 1645. Historical records show sites of 2 Roman Pottery’s, a Roman burial, and a Benedictine Priory from 1076 - 1539. our plan is to do more research on finds in the winter when we can’t detect! 😊 x

Well done once again.
Lots of targets, loom weight? (Photo #6)
The thick round brass find in the last picture-got another view of that one?
