I had a hour to kill before my haircut appointment. I decided to hunt the adjoining field where the apartments are being built. The grass was high here also but I kept swinging. This field had very little trash of any kind, so when my XLT rang out with the solid signal I was thinking maybe a 3 ring CW bullet and it was! Next target was a piece of a harmonica reed. Then a 1935 silver quarter. I was wanting to stay longer but had to go. I cleaned the gold pocket watch I dug a few weeks ago, it turned out pretty decent. enjoy the pics. Tsgman

What approximately year of release these hours? They very beautiful I congratulate!

WOW!! Beautiful watch!! Is it solid gold or plated? Either way it's a great find!! If it took going to the barber shop in order to hunt that field. I would end up with a shaved head in no time. WTG!!! HH

TSGMAN, Great Finds As Always, But Do You Really Have To Make An Appointment To Get Your Hair Cut ???? ??? ;D trk5capt...

Very nice finds, WTG!!!
The watch cleaned up nicely, have you been able to date it?
Looks pretty old...
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Very nice on the watch Tgsman...It turned out pretty sharp. The other finds are nice too....but wheres the pic of your new haircut??? ;)

I went to the Elgin pocket watch web site. I am not sure but it appears this was a Railrode Engineers watch. From what I understand the Civil War era watches had a key or something that was used to wind them. The pic I attached looks very similar to my watch. It's probably early 1900's. I thought it only had some gold plating left on a few places but I started picking at it and the crud just flaked off. Here also is a pic before I cleaned it very much. By the way it the insides are all rusted up, and the back cover was barely staying on so I siliconed it back into place. Here are the pics. Tim

Nice watch! I live in Elgin about a mile away from where the factory once stood. The gentleman that built the house that I live in worked at the Elgin Watch Company as a manager in the escape department. Actually, his whole family worked at the factory, at one time, half of the entire population of Elgin was employed by the factory. till it closed in 1960.

Super nice !!!!!!!!! I would be happy to just find a plane one. I have found the guts of them but that is about it. Great dig!! :)

Cool deal! You should get a key to go with it ..they are pretty cheap.

Good idea but I only display stuff I actually dig. One thing, did anyone notice the 12 isn't aligned up below the knob? It's on the side! I never noticed one like that before.

There's no question about it tsgman, you're one of the super stars on this forum! Your finds are always so great.

I just love finding those old watches. Back in 1983 I found one in a small park in Western Michigan. It was a Rolex.

Happy hunting good buddy.
