I’ve been hunting almost every day for the past couple of weeks, hitting a couple soccer fields, a small wooded area, parks and an area surrounding a tot lot. I ended up with a few keepers that I thought I’d share. I think the coolest thing I found was the bank token. I’m diggin’ it.
1) Sheriff’s badge as found
2) Sheriff’s badge cleaned up
What a strange image on the badge Does anyone know anything about that?
3) Sterling silver bracelet
4) 1968 Canadian dime
Not really a big deal since I live in Minnesota and have literally seen thousands of these in my lifetime but I think this might be 50% silver/50% copper. It’s hard to tell from the photo but it’s quite a bit shinier than a normal dime and there were 50/50’s in 1968.
5) Embellishment of some sort?
Very strange find this was. I was in the middle of a soccer field today and dug a target that was 4” down. Every time I put the pinpointer back in the hole I hit another one of these “things”. I’m not really sure what it was but there’s little stones mounted in all but 2 of them. The ends of all the pieces look to be snapped off. Weird
6) Junk ring
7) Old pendant from a women’s necklace? 2”x2”
There appears to be a broken loop at the top where it probably attached to a necklace at one point. Its hard to tell from the photo but the horses are holing up a shield of some sort. I wish it was silver or gold but it was fun to find anyway. (I think there was possibly a piece of colored circular glass which was mounted behind the horses)
8,9) Wells Dickey Trust Co. token
I dug up a penny, then put the pinpointer back into the hole and ended up going deeper and deeper at an angle for which seemed like forever. After digging out a 10” deep hole the size of my wrist I pop this token out. It totally made my day and is probably the coolest thing I’ve found this year so far.
10,11) Arcade Tokens
The middle token is Chuck E Cheese and the other 2 are basically generic.
12) Cap gun barrel
13,14) 1913, 1916 D, 1929 D Wheat cents
15) Pieces of a pot. Possibly pewter? They are heavy.
16) Gargoyle pendant
Thanks for looking! -WIT
