Last night I educated Quindy and Doug how to hunt at night for relics to try to beat some of the heat. We hunted from 8:00PM to around 11:00PM. Quindy made the comment if we found ten relics between us it would be a great hunt. I think we had a great hunt and I found two great friends. I put us on some good relics. The best find was the carved bullet. Thanks for looking and HH. Dixiedigger

Andy, we had a blast. It was a pleasant coincidence that the fine folks at your Church had that good meal planned for last night that we enjoyed before the hunt. Doug seemed real partial to the homemade ice cream.
You showed us a great time and night hunting that site was great. You have definitely figured out how to effectively hunt there and that's the hottest soil I have hunted in Tennessee. The F75s ground balanced at a 60-62 value which is much higher than normal here.
We enjoyed seeing the many relics you have recovered, meeting your family, and hunting with you. HH my friend, Quindy.

Great finds for sure. Nothing like a night hunt!

Wow! You all found some nice keepers! And once again, Q has skipped out on the photo session. :D Is nice to see you and Burt tho! Sounds like a super time. I hope to hunt with them some day too.

Nana :)

Congradulations on a great hunt guys, and night sounds good to me if I could fight thru the undergrowth around here lol. I like that carved bullet, to date a carved bullet has been my best find, at least to me, it doesn't get much more personal than knowing someone put the time and effort in carving them, so they will always be my favorite finds....again great hunt and great times with friends. HH

I had a blast hunting with Andy. I have hunted for over 30 years and have never night hunted before. Sometimes you can teach an old dog new tricks. I met Andy's dad and talked to him at the church supper. He's 85 years old and looks 65. I really enjoyed meeting him, your mom, and your wife. You are a very lucky and blessed man.
Dman

Looks like y'all had a good time Andy. :icon_thumleft: I've dug a few times at night and its the only way to go in the summertime if your schedule and site will permit it. I see you live in Southern Mid.-Tenn. and Quin lives in North Mid-Tenn, so how far apart are y'all apart?
Looks like lots of fun and really like the carved bullet! :icon_thumleft:

Josh, Andy asked me to answer you since he has not been up to dig with us yet although we have a hunting trip planned for later this year plus a few more activities. We are a good 2 hour drive North of his home. It didn't seem that far to Dman because he slept for one and a half hours on the trip home while I drove-LOL. HH, from all 3 of us. Quindy.

Great hunt guys. Sounds and looks like you had a great time. I was curious though if you ever run across any snakes with coils a swinging. Seems around here in the heat the copper heads and rattlers are hunting @ night as well. I would enjoy giving it a try. Thanks for sharin.

Look's like you all had a great time and came away with some nice relic's.I've been out at night a few time's before and the only thing we have to watch out for is the skunk's....So it kinda keep's you on your toe's ;D Thank's for sharing guy's.

Congrats on a great hunt. Boy this Tennessee heat has been unbearable. Not a bad idea on hunting at night. Were y'all hunting a field or woods? Our woods here are in heavy overgrowth and the fields in crops. A few fields have been cut. I have been trying to hunt around sunup while it is a little cooler out and hunting until it gets too hot. I agree with my hunting partner Tnrelicman on the carved bullets being personal. To recover something that a soldier personally carved would rate better than a drop to me. Again nice finds and I hope that y'all find many more.

No snakes yet, but sometimes the mosqitoes get in the way.

We were lucky, the place we hunted was cut, where we really want to go we can't get into yet because of the growth.

Today we noticed that the carved bullet had been pulled. We think someone pulled the bullet and then carved it. Has anyone else ever dug carved bullet that has been pulled?

I cleaned the bullets I dug when I got home Andy and 2 of them were pulled. Dman said one or two of his were pulled and I remember one or two of the ones you dug were pulled. With that many bullets pulled and the carved bullet, Yankee Infantry apparently spent a considerable period of time at that site. HH, Quindy.

Awesome finds .look at those relics Congratulations :icon_thumleft:

Wow DixieDigger, you took two of my friends on a Great hunt. I envy all three of you. Someday, I hope to dig a carved bullet, the one you found is a beauty and being pulled, Priceless.

Quindy sent me some chewed bullets this week. Friends don't come any better than that.

Hopefully someday, I'll get down to Tenn. and do some diggin down there.

Congrats to all of you, keep cool, fall is just around the corner.

Yea, fall is just around the corner and then it will be time to get serious.

Great lead you boys dug! That carved bullet is well worth the hunt! :hello2:

I've been doing a bit of night hunting myself here this summer. Late evenings and night or early morning is where its at. :icon_sunny:
