What would a Tool Check be for. I have heard this phrase before and I really don't know what it means. I found what might be one but who knows. Maybe a short explanation please for this idiot :tongue3: thanks jgas

Looks like a cow or sheep tag that your holding.

at big corporations, like Boeing, they have tool cribs. that is where they keep big expensive tools.
as a mechanic, when you check out a tool, you leave a numbered tool check associated with a mechanic.
that way they know who checked out, what and ultimately who is responsible for it while it's checked out

Thanks for the replies guys. Really, a sheep tag :icon_scratch: We may never know huh? It was at a very old home and several inches deep. Either way it was a neat find. jgas

As a kid I used to go to a bathing beach at a park. You could ask for a numbered basket to put your street clothes in and the attendant would give you a metal, numbered tag that you pinned to your swimsuit. When you were done swimming you gave the attendant the tag and they gave you your basket of clothes.
