I use a small pocket knife, cotton gloves, and a set of reading glasses to power through my boxes of halves. I keep a weighted magnifying glass on my desk as well. What tools (loupes, USB Cameras, etc) make your life easier when checking your rolls? Is there a ritual that you follow?

Just my fingers to open a roll. HAnd search. I want to try glasses though :(

Fingers for opening rolls. Luckily I have strong, pretty fingernails. Have been known to use the rounded tip of a butter knife to uncrimp the end when my fingers are "owie"... 30x-21mm jewelers loupe for dimes and such. Ritual? Screaming "Please Don't Suck...!" in my head as I open the box. May consider swinging a dead chicken over my head if it will increase my finds.
