Found these yesterday in a overhang 18 inches deep. Anyone know if any of these are significant or just ordinary rocks? North Alabama area.

They kinda just look like rocks (I hate when I post something and get that response), do they look like they have been worked any?

I'm not really sure. I'm brand new at this. Can't really find anything on the web to help me identify anything

Lots of mining in North Alabama. Not saying those aren't the real deal but the Tenn Tom Waterway is lined with that material.

Are there lots of rock piles and walls in the area?

Several. Directly behind the overhang is a solid wall 50 foot long and 20 foot high. The overhang is 50 yards from a dry Creek and noticeable smoke damage. The rock piles are 100 yards down from the overhang near another Creek. I was wondering if they may be graves?

It’s possible, I know I come across plenty in my area, but I don’t think all the piles are graves. There are some on here who know more about it though, I just recognize that style of “rock” and have some similar stuff.

It's a little aggravating on guessing whats what. I have no intention on moving the piles of rocks just in case they are graves.

I’ll be interested to see if you come up with many points, from what I read they are rare at rock pile sites around here

More likely the gentleman is talking about stone cairns/rock piles. Some such sites are likely native related, but you can't just come to quick, blanket conclusions based on what was said. Not all cairn sites were created equal; most of the debate in the Northeast, for example, centers around native vs. settler/farmer field clearing.

That's my best guess based on being involved with researching sites in the Northeast of that nature
