All Treasure Hunting
Hello everyone. I'm new to treasurenet but I've been treasure hunting at auctions, garage sales, estate sales, pawn shops and thrift stores for a couple years. I learned real quick that it pays to be early and not be hesitant. Last year I decided to take it seriously and made many amazing finds. I have the disease now and there's no going back lol.

This is probably my favorite coin find of 2015. I paid $12.50. Yes...less than face value. I haven't opened it because I love daydreaming of what could be in there. Probably just worn common dates but the coins that I could see are mercury dimes and early 40s quarters.

I'm curious what everyone else would consider their top find for 2015 ... Maybe this could be a fun thread. Good luck and happy hunting in 2016!

That's sweet! And just think it could be exchanged for a piece of paper worth $25 in 10 years! That's a deal there! I bet a lot of them got turned in too!

Out of everything I bought. The two best ones were a Geneve watch that was 44 g. Sold that one for $1000, paid $5.

Second one was $.10 for a pair of 18 K cufflinks that I sold for $750.

The bank is awesome. Don't empty it. Keep it as a piece of history.

My gold best find was this 1.3ozt 18kt gold bangle for $1.99. And my best silver was this 23ozt Sterling Demitasse set for $42.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452271400.904224.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1452271431.183027.webp

I dug a pretty Indian Heap Penny

I would say that the Franklin Translators. I bought 10 translators for $13, I've sold 6 for just under $600. The rest are still up for sale.

Mine was the tamiya motorized model I paid $5 for and got $1275 for!

Heck yea! I bought one of these before. Bought it for like $100 because I told the lady didn't have a motor inside of it. Drove home look at the box again on the back it says motor not included! I was stoked that made my day!

Welcome to TNet, SCpicker! Love the bank. Very cool. My best buy of the year was either this set of tiki mugs:

There were actually two each of the three on the left. Paid $40 at an estate auction. Sold them for over $700. My best single item was this toy truck:

DSC05556.webp

Paid $50 for it at an estate auction and sold it for $499.

I would say that my best finds were the Gold, 3.1g of 22k, 17g of 18k, 3.4g of 14k and.9g of 10k for $10.00 and my Rogers 12 person, 70pc. Sterling flatware set that I got for $140.00. I still have all of it.

Aside from what I picked my best find was an item of sentimental value that I thought was lost. My father always wore a 10k gold tie clasp and after he passed 13 years ago I could never find it. During a spring cleaning I found it in a box in my house. It's sentimental value is priceless.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I mainly look for jewelry and coins but I'll buy anything that I think is rare or unusual. Some of my top jewelry finds last year would be this 14k "Carlos" bracelet that weighed 16.5 grams for $1(yardsale). Another is this Eterna 18k ladies watch for $30(auction). I never heard of Eterna before and it had no gold marks on it but it screamed gold. You couldn't remove the back without removing the bands and I didn't want to draw too much attention to it so took a chance. Once I got home and took off the back it was marked 18k 750 inside. The band was 18k too. Crazy!

I bought a box of jewelry that had a bunch of vintage watches in it. Paid $100, I think.
Had a 14k gold vintage Rolex. Sold it for $2300.
Second up, Mikimoto brooch I bought for $42 and sold for $850.

2015 wasn't a block buster year for us as far fantastic finds. But there where a lot of good items that we're either flipping or will keep for my personal collection. These are just some of our goodies from last year. The desk has cleaned up nicely so far. I did add several pieces to my ever growing coin silver collection.

I don't recall anything spectacular this past year. Many decent finds. I like my Mettlach stein the most, even if not the most valuable.

Awesome find a welcome to t-net.
My best find has to be my pocket watch from the 1700's! The Hall mark is dated 1798 but I believe the movement is from the 1760's.

I spent 2 hours yesterday morning going through all of my 2015 ebay sales via paypal so i can get my taxes squared away and found a few of my own contenders. The biggest return on investment was from private pick i organized that kept me a 2 friends busy every weekend for 2 months. For 5.00 i purchased a set of Monarch 10EE lathe metric change gears, minus the traversing gear, and sold them for 950.00 The original invoice was in the box and listed them at 1250.00

The other awesome item was 2 bags of sterling silver flatware that were stuffed in a cabinet that had been paint-sealed shut for years. Nobody at the estate sale could get the door open but resistance was futile with my gorilla hands and i pulled it right open. The estate lady insisted they were plated and only asked for 20.00, even though i could clearly see the words "sterling" marked on the pieces. In her defense, there were about 3 pieces of plate and maybe that's why she was so adamant about declaring it all plated. Once home, i sorted it and had approx 6 pounds of sterling and about 15 super unique/rare souvenir spoons. Some of the said spoons are fetching 275.00+ on ebay like the San Francisco, Hawaii, various enameled ones and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Here's one of my best fines for 2015 a 1000 for $60 sold 11 for 110 so far
