I bought a topo map of Pennsylvania but the maps cover such a great amount of area there is not enough detail about any specific hunting area to pick up navigational markers. I was wondering does anyone make topo map books of counties so that they can have more detail. The maps I have (Atlas Gazette) are so large any area I would walk in a day are only 1/2 inch- 1 inch on the map. Not enought to be accurate when trying to use a compass. I know I know thats what GPSs' are for. I just want to try old school navigation

What you need is topo maps, 1:24000, 7.5 minute series. From the US Geological,(survey .)
Check on line on where to purchase them. Not sure about in your area ?

Yes the one I got was 1:150,000 is that the bigger the number the more area it covers?
