Totally new and 5 year old son wants to see gold in our pan

I live in albuquerque and i pack a little dirt from places all over the west side of the sandias. Haven't seen a speck of anything and don't want him getting discouraged. Anywhere within 40 minute drive that anyone can fill me in on where there are great sites to pan and find it often?
