I found this copper toy replica rifle, which appears to modeled after a plains/buffalo rifle, between the roots of a pine tree near a school yard. I've researched the Internet, but I can't find one like it. It's 9 1/2 inches in length and there is no writing on it whatsoever. Any help is appreciated! Thanks! (Sorry, the thread title should say "how old is it", not "how hold"!)

I remember my grandfather having a bunch of similar little guns back in the 1970's and I'd guess they weren't new then.... 1950's or 60's maybe?

I'm thinking the TV show Daniel Boone memorabilia - I'm searching as I type.

Hubley has a 24" Davy Crockett cap gun that looks just like that w/ the stock embossing.

Likely from a action figure I agree - 12" action figures are a 6:1 ratio, so your piece would be correct.

Cool find!

I am not sure that it is a Davy Crockett rifle. It’s missing the Buffalo
And the stock is not the same.

Here is a very nice resource for your cap gun ID.

Okay, with all the input from everyone on this, I found a picture of Davy Crockett's "Old Betsy" rifle on the web, and I agree that the copper toy I found was likely modeled after that gun. Although I didn't find an exact match for mine, I did find several other Crockett replicas manufactured from the mid 50's through the mid 1960's. Thanks again to everyone for their help, and I'm going to go ahead an marked this one as SOLVED! (I've attached images of the real rifle with a comparison pick of the one I found. I think the design on the stock was clearly designed to emulate Crockett's rifle.)
