Well was able to do a 3 day hunt between hunthicks and an other detectorist who found the 6 trade axes in one hole and I was not disappointed….

Day 1
Right after the 6 Trade Axes came out of the ground I nailed 2 of them in same hole not far from the the others, they may have been dragged further down from the plough…I also managed pieces from larger Trade Axes...This same day I was also able to pull out yet another 2nd American Rev War button (wish it was complete) and the funny part is that it's far from the others that I have found, that's what's great about our hobby…just never know what we are going to find…also managed a Victorian 1871 - 10 cent silver and bale seals along with the usual musket balls and coins

Day 2
Started of early morning with a big bang by getting this 8 pound cannonball…The funny thing was my detecting buddy said I would love to find an 8 pounder today just about an hour before….:tongue3: Also managed a nice complete spigot (identical to one I got years back) musket parts and a one Stiver coin with musket balls and a unmarked bale seal...

Day 3
Was a recon mission to check some of the sites we hadn't had a chance to check in the fall but turned out to be a bust until we hit musket ball beach, a spot that you wouldn't guess was there and that's why we look outside the box…Also found a field at the end of the day with more musket gun parts, pewter cup (what's left of it) musket balls but the had to leave early so will save it for another day…. In all I pulled out 2 pounds of musket balls over the 3 days...

Thanks for looking and also including of some pics of the crap we walk in with this hobby... my buddy in the thick brush and me walking in seaweed and mud on the beach…yup this is an easy hobby people say, just look at the junk I found….

Oh my good grief thats a great haul man. AND THE SILVER COIN IS BEAUTIFUL TOO.

Now that looks like a very fun time on some great ground. Congrats on some great display case finds bud

Wish I had been there for all of it, even if I missed all the walking haha. It was a pretty good couple of days and there's still a ton of potential out there at some of those sites and whatever we come across next!

Thank you for taking the time to share your hunt and those pictures with us

Fantastic hunt. Especially like the rev war button. Congrats!

Now that's a great mass of fine looking relics with a mix of silver and copper. Nice going on the trade axes & cannon ball also, well worth the effort.

Those pewters are hard to get whole…only have 2 that are complete 2nd American …They are looked at as a rare button…I was lucky to score over 12 of them now...

Fantastic hunt. Especially like the rev war button. Congrats!

That might be a better group shot than my 2015 better finds for the year post will be!

It's certainly won't be one that I'll forget anytime soon...

I have been waiting anxiously for the end of hunt pics. You did not disappoint either! What is the diamond shaped brass piece with the odd cutout? A musket part?

Yeah imagine if it all was there, with the detail on it...would no doubt would've been a sweet one... funny they deteriorate from the outside in especially where they would've had an iron shank...I do have a complete one with iron shank...figure that one would've cracked in half but it's perfect!
I've been lucky with my pewter buttons...I found several military pewters about 8 years ago with edge loss so all I did was dry them at room temp for about a week, just on shelf in a safe area and I coat it with a conservator's wax, which you can buy at Lee Valley... Honestly I rarely or if at all see any flaking..I do recoat them once/year... Here a pic of the wax I use...

Thanks Old Dude, that piece is a key hole latch...the owner of the land told us there was a possibiity of being a pre 1755 french church on their property but I am more inclined to say it was a store house of some type with the finds that came out...

It's all about the sites and you are tearing them up!
Impressive collection from a couple of sites in a few days !
You know you're making me a little jealous don't you ? Lol

That's an amazing pile of early relics, and aside from the Rev War button, I'd have to say that iron stole the show. Love the ball and axes!

Thanks IH...Just trying to make up for the time you pulled out that minty little Kings American in front of me...hmmmmm me thinks its on the banner too...
