Train tracks area

Is a train tracks area good to detect? i have an old abandoned trolley rial close to me that arent used today. it was used in the 1920's

seems there would be a lot of spikes, rail plates and other junk items, not to mention the interference from the rails.

Dated spikes are collectble.? They were driven into the ties so the RR could keep track of when the ties were laid.? They are much smaller than a railroad spike and will have a date on the top of them. Also check around any switches you see for switch locks, some of them are worth big bucks! jim aka ks

jims right! those date nails can be fun to find and valuble to collectors if you have multiples and wanna sell a few
