I have not done any searching in the water previously and was wondering on the amount of trash in the water. I used a Sovereign before on land and was quite happy with the machine; however, you do have to slow down your swing compared to other brands. I am now looking to purchase a detector for salt water (shallow; ie, not diving but will be up to the neck at times). I could easily purchase an Excalibur (basically a waterproof Sovereign), but wanted to know if one of the other waterproof detectors make more sense due to a faster swing speed; ie, the Sovereign was great at finding the items that were masked by iron and other trash. Is this an advantage in water? Also, with the water, is a fast swing speed even possible?
With all of that said, I would also like to be able to travel with my detector and wanted to know if the waterproof detectors break down as completely as the land based equivalents.
I cannot go to a local store and check on these questions because I am in Iraq and wanted to have my detector when I went to Thailand for a visit come October.
Thanks for the response.
