This is a tough one as there are only a couple scoops that break down. I've used them and can say to keep the threads well greased on the screw handles as they freeze up were it is now a one piece handle. Mostly when traveling you are stuck with just a hand scoop or call ahead to find a dectector shop where you can rent or buy when you get there. Otherwise it's just a hand scoop on the dry sand or shallow water.
Your welcome to use mine a 6 inch SS two piece that is well made but, not heavy!
Just returned from Vero, works well in or out of water, packs great in suit case
Hi bomber,
A few thoughts...
You can put it in a narrow box and check it on the plane. I see golf clubs & fly rods shipped that way all the time.
A few years back I had to get mine down to Puerto Rico so I just boxed it up and mailed it ahead.
Problem is now most charge per piece, an extra piece of luggage for your scoop will cost at least $50 on most airlines . Only airline I know that is not charging extra is SouthWest.................
ok,how about this, since the shaft is about 5 foot, remove the shaft from the scoop and use the shaft for a "cane"would you be able to just carry that(as a cane or walking stick) part on a plane?...anybody?
