Some trash finds from today - a pair of weighted sterling silver salt and pepper shakers, a sterling cup of some kind, and an original oil painting by Italian painter Antonio Cereda. There is alot of history written about this painter that I researched.
The sterling shakers are of a quite unique design.
The sterling cup thing might be for holding an egg, or maybe it's a sugar bowl. It weighs 30 grams.
This is some history of the painter: Antonio Cereda was born 1921 in Monza, Italy. His mother was the niece of Pope Pius XI. He won many awards for his landscape paintings. At 20 he fought in WWII in the Russian campaign. He was wounded in the head while driving a motorcycle delivering messages between companies. He retreated from Russia on foot.
After the war Cereda worked at the Pirelli tire factory. It was there that he began mixing factory chemicals to make paint so that he could make art in his off hours. The managers of the Pirelli factory like his work and give him a small room to use as a studio and in return he provides the managers with many fine works of art for free.
From the 1950's to the 1970's his work in landscapes became very popular and he was featured in all the best galleries. He founded with other artists the San Luca gallery in Monza, Italy were he exhibited his works.
