Found in central Nc in area with history to early 1700s. Both pieces found within 2’ of each other. It’s brass. Not sure what it is.
Looks like a broken trigger guard from a flintlock firearm

I agree with Vtcolonialdigger and smokeythecat... it is part of a musket trigger-guard, similar to a British Model p-1953 Enfield rifle, but not exactly the same. Looks a bit earlier, like latter 1700s to early-1800s.
