🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Brass piece

Found in central Nc in an area with history to early 1700s. Found in close proximity to a lead ball, rifle flint, and pieces of a soapstone pipe. It’s brass. Ideas?

It appears to be a fragment of either a squished telephone or alarm clock bell.
