Jim,

That’s camp lead. Whole minie balls melted in the camp fire. Soldiers used the paper powder cartridges attached to the minie ball projectile to quick start their campfires.

Yeah, the one on the left looks kind of like a swooping eagle and the one on the right kinda looks like a lion rearing up on its hind legs or a spread eagle. Like spotting random figures in the clouds.

Derision! You ain't seen nothin' yet! I also think the lead on the right looks like a lion. BTW I found some bear #2 in the woods 50' from where the items were found. Makes you feel so secure.
