Found this beautiful old colonial button I had found a cupboard handle in the shape of a Tudor rose that had same look on the back as this button looks like the cylinder on a revolver. Pocketwatch was found at a different site BF571BBF-75E4-4A86-95B6-800757D1B643.webpABE51427-8EED-4A86-9508-E7268C12E397.webpB389E111-16D2-443A-AAC7-7AD924CEB154.webp573BE6D6-7B01-4010-8B7F-521AD83698A0.webpF546A46C-93D9-4312-BA27-AFF295605153.webpEFC63B55-5CC9-40C6-B161-1087CF2585A2.webpF7426798-5DA5-451E-8D0A-85D0ACCEF04C.webpF7426798-5DA5-451E-8D0A-85D0ACCEF04C.webp362538BC-FE0A-4924-B675-5DD6D84ECE82.webp293F2242-2D03-4585-91D8-D8A26D36FB4C.webp71BABD87-EBFA-47C3-866E-5454037D06EF.webpBFB07553-0309-48E1-BD17-5380DF5B18BA.webp91CBF51F-570A-4C82-8438-2468782C6B99.webpFF012260-F244-4814-B72B-21BCAA90BF89.webp9CF4F849-E195-42FE-995F-D10B912DB647.webpAD2C7707-8E22-4410-AFAB-0FDEAC4496E1.webpABD6166F-4EA4-485F-A72B-CD293B0F30E0.webp44566F92-241C-4920-BAA3-2F0FD69C5AA0.webp12D72FD9-A680-47AB-99E9-5AAB3EB1C3A6.webpC65F1AE8-B869-41BD-BBEA-D2270B5A3095.webp3C71A6ED-626D-4E69-9D09-BA020A670B7F.webpDAD447BC-7952-4D5D-9B5C-372C2A1584E7.webp3B9BED91-29DB-47C6-9357-BAC9A6B0E2AD.webp5B3D25DB-82BF-454A-A166-3E2E6D3E2D6B.webp442689E9-114C-4D8F-9AF4-2456076F303B.webpnot sure if I posted the old iron previously so I added it to this post found at tavern so far a large iron and this smaller one

I wonder if they burned the tavern down when they got rid of it? Maybe that's where all the nails come from. I hunt an old burned farmhouse and it's nails everywhere. Gary

That's so awesome. The button is really nice. Way to save history!

Wow you've found so much there! That "revolver" button is really nice! Is that all detecting or are you starting to sift?

I like that button!

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Congrats on the fine relics! :occasion14:

You're a true relic hunter...nice finds!

I haven’t sifted with a sifter I did dig a small square and sifter with hand and pinpointer

The owner of the tavern was a capt in the local militia and was critically injured in the battle of fr montogomery he was carried home by two sgts after escaping out of the north end of the fort and carried 12miles over the mountain (nighttime) the two sgts wound up marrying both his daughters later on in a double wedding . He passed away 5years later (1785) as the result of whatever wounds he sustained in the battle . His daughter and her husband (sgt) I think then ran it around 1800-1805 it is believed they built a new house across the street up on a hill that building still stands and a addition out on early 1900s it’s a mansion now there is no visible signs of the tavern except for writings about it and old maps that depict where it stood . I have found the keg tap n keys for the two and a 16-18th century drawer of cubaord handle in the shape of a Tudor rose which is neat as no one has ever seen it so this is a piece of it . It was described as being one of the nicer taverns in the area . Used by GW for a brief period as temp headquarters he paid the tavern owner for 19 dinners (written in his expense account) was a very busy tavern both publicly and militarily (although I haven’t found a lot of military stuff ) but a lot of it (property) is unreachable swampy and severely overgrown the swampy fields supposedly used to be dry fields but I don’t think they were because a old 18 Th century road twists around one side of a field that is swampy so that must be the reason the road turned . Also at some time they dumped a lot of red shale to build up road and other parts also animal pens were put in cement stone etc and the old road was covered with a lot of dirt and is now a lawn there was a beautiful Rockwall that’s either burrows under the lawn or taken down
