Woke up at 6am yesterday before all the festivities & had to get out for a few hours. The forecast was for 70 degrees & I needed at least 1 more outing to last me through these long eastern winters.

I went back to a park I frequent & after an hour, pulled this 1878 seated quarter. She was 8 inches deep & during the whole time I knew it was deep silver. The crosshairs for all you explorer users was pegged top right with half of them not showing so I knew this was a keeper. I did a "yeah baby" when I saw the front & searched some more for any others. About a half an hour later pulled a Large cent , I am unable to read the date so I will be soaking this.

Also pulled 2 Injuns, 1 from 1890, the other cant tell yet.

The belt buckle still has the prongs nice & sharp & I am going to use some wd-40 to see if I can get the latch to move.

I am sure glad I got out for a little while & for now I am going o do some research over the winter to find some more places to go to. Hopefully there are some warm breaks to get out some more.

Happy Hunting All !!!!!!

Thanks Kirk, going to do some research for some older sights for next year. I got a colonial copper fix..

The coins are great but that buckle is awesome!!

Awesome finds Don and congrats on that seated! Buckle is from the 1700s, Georgian, probably later 1700s being square. HH, Mike

Thanks, it was one of those fluke warm days now & then, but with all this global warming, who knows..

Yeap 1790s shoe buckle. I only ever find the centre pieces, the rest the plough destroys.

Awesome day South Jersey Don. :o Looks like a braided hair variety. Buckle is beautiful also. By the way, have I mentioned how much I like your avatar? ;D

By the way Don. Heres a picture of some late 1700's buckles. Several seem to have the same design as yours. Definitely late 1700's.
