Woke up at 6am yesterday before all the festivities & had to get out for a few hours. The forecast was for 70 degrees & I needed at least 1 more outing to last me through these long eastern winters.

I went back to a park I frequent & after an hour, pulled this 1878 seated quarter. She was 8 inches deep & during the whole time I knew it was deep silver. The crosshairs for all you explorer users was pegged top right with half of them not showing so I knew this was a keeper. I did a "yeah baby" when I saw the front & searched some more for any others. About a half an hour later pulled a Large cent , I am unable to read the date so I will be soaking this.

Also pulled 2 Injuns, 1 from 1890, the other cant tell yet.

The belt buckle still has the prongs nice & sharp & I am going to use some wd-40 to see if I can get the latch to move.

I am sure glad I got out for a little while & for now I am going o do some research over the winter to find some more places to go to. Hopefully there are some warm breaks to get out some more.

Happy Hunting All !!!!!!

Of course the coins are nice, but that buckle
is a bit of a holy grail to me. I am oh so wanting
to find a really nice buckle with come history
behind it. You have achieved that.
Congratulations.

I just read this post again and it got me amped up to go out and detect. I really need a fix because the weather is going to be nasty out tomorrow in my area. Just wanted to say how much I liked that buckle again Don. Now get out there and find another!!! :D

The park was established in the 1870's, so I am puzzled how that buckle got there. There may have been a homesite there that is long gone so the next warm spell, I will go to the same spot & see if any other interesting things pop out of the ground.
